I completed the bronze level sniffer training with our rescue dog. Melissa is an excellent trainer. She understands behavioural issues and adapted the course to our dog's needs and progress. Melissa provides great guidance, instruction and tips, keeping the course and learning fun. Our dog loved each session, as did I and I learnt a lot about how to engage our dog. This has given me very valuable tool to help engage our dog, either at home or on walks. This gives me confidence that he will want to stay nearby, have fun and come back when called. I totally recommend Melissa and the sniffer training.

I attended the 6 week bronze level course with my 6 month old cocker spaniel puppy and we both had a great time. Melissa is very knowledgable and knows how best to cater to each dog. My puppy Poncho was still quite young at the time of the course, so he was given lots of breaks outside to decompress when things got a bit too exciting. Melissa recognised when things were getting too difficult for Poncho and brought the task down a level so that we were still setting him up for success. I now have another tool in my arsenal to build Poncho’s confidence and mentally stimulate him, plus he sleeps for hours after a session which is always a bonus! I couldn’t recommend this course enough.

I was invited to attend this course by RY Dogs and was initially very apprehensive as my collie lurcher, Molly has quite challenging behaviours including reactivity to other dogs. It quickly became apparent that we were in very safe hands with Melissa who gave Molly and I all the space, time and patience we needed to succeed. She was always very encouraging and gave us clear instructions in all the various scent tasks which every week challenged Molly and gave her much needed mental stimulation. This Bronze level course has really helped me understand Molly better and how her intelligence and engaging nature can be put to good use in these scent detection classes. Melissa understands how difficult it is to have a reactive dog and she was able to help me, with the skills she taught me and Molly, manage the way I deal with these unpredictable situations. It has also made me a more confident handler of my own dog! I highly recommend this class. We are doing the follow up progression course to get ready for the next Silver level.

We embarked on the bronze level scent course with our two rescue dogs with the hope that the training would help to develop their focus, give them a 'job' and help in other areas of training. We have not been disappointed. The course was very well structured and delivered by Melissa, taking us through the basics and progressing to searches conducted in the local church and vehicles! The course was great fun throughout with the right balance of training and enjoyment. We were amazed at how well our boys took to the 'work' and saw quick progress with both; to see them searching like professionals (ish!) was extremely rewarding. We will definitely use scent work to help in our day to day training and would thoroughly recommend the course for anyone looking to harness their pets inherent 'sniffing' skills and to improve overall focus in all aspects of their training.
